Google Unveils New Gaming Platform Stadia


Stadia aims to challenge console and PC gaming. The platform is cloud-based and will run solely on streaming, saving users from purchasing consoles or computers. Phil Harrison, a former Sony and Xbox executive, spoke about the platform in San Francisco during the Game Developers Conference. Phil Harrison, via Kotaku The platform is intended to work on TVs, tablets, laptops and phones. It will also come with its own optional controller, which connects via WiFi, or gamers can use their own controllers. Google is promising 4K gaming at 60 frames per second come launch time. The company has not yet clarified how fast a user's internet speed needs to be for optimal play. The first game announced for Stadia will be "Doom Eternal."
