Transcript: The Human Brain Project is a well-funded European initiative to try to build an artificial general intelligence by modeling the human brain. The hope of course is that we understand enough about how a neuron works and how you get emergent intelligence from a number of them that we can make a decent effort at trying this approach. Some scientists believe, however, that an individual neuron is as complicated as a supercomputer, that each one of your hundred billion neurons is in fact as complicated as IBM Watson or any of the other large systems that we have. If this is the case, then, it's likely we'll have to get to intelligence by another route entirely.
