Kalamazoo Elementary School Case Study | Kensington Ergonomics & Security Solutions

We spoke to the Principal as well as some of the staff and students of Kalamazoo Christian Middle School, about the role #Ergonomics and #Security play in their daily routine. Joel N., Principal, talks about the KENSINGTON AC12 SECURITY CHARGING CABINET: “All of our students in the middle school have a Chromebook that they use, not exclusively but frequently, for classroom work. I have the charging station for Chromebooks and I really appreciate it as far as all of our students have one-to-one so they have their own but I have loners in case of breaks or in case of 'I forgot to bring it' as middle schoolers do and I love the fact that I have that charging station, it has a door on it, they're always readily charged, the trays come out nicely and it has a lock on it so that I know where they're going to. We have expectations of our students and staff spending a great deal of time on these technologies and to do so in a healthy way instead of just sitting, instead of getting carpal tunnel or other things I think it's extremely important that Ergonomics play a part in what we do here.” Erin T., Technology Teacher about the SMARTFIT SIT STAND WORKSTATION and WIRELESS PRESENTER with Laser Pointer and Memory: “I've really enjoyed using the standing desk. I have a really good view of what it is that they're working on in their Chromebooks. Being in the back of the room and I use the laser to point up at the screen, they're able to see exactly what I'm talking about when I'm mentioning something for them to see on the screen.” Jake, Student: “My teacher uses the standing desk and she puts our computer and everything on it and I think it's awesome because it can move and stuff and she can see all of our work because she put it in the back.” Regan, Student: “Our teacher spends a lot of time standing up with it and I think it's kind of cool because she doesn't have to sit down all day. I think she is a lot happier when she stands up because she's usually smiling every time she stands up and that makes you feel a lot better.” Anne B, Art Teacher about the ANTI-FATIGUE MAT: “When I use the anti-fatigue mat it made a great difference just even in my daily routine. I'm on my legs all day and walking around the classroom all day helping kids and if I've been on the fatigue mat it does make a difference by the end of the day my feet aren't quite as tired nor are my legs. I still want to have plenty of energy when I get home to do what I need to do yet before the end of the day to get my kids to do their homework or getting supper on the table and that's all part of standing and so absolutely having the fatigue mat throughout the day at work can benefit me then in the long run after work as well.” Erin T: “As we use more technology items every day and there's new ways to do everything that we're used to doing without that more ways to do it with technology I can see how that that is very beneficial to have ways that are more comfortable to use and more easy to use.” http://bit.ly/2ULgsIL Kensington The Professionals' Choice April 10, 2019 at 03:51PM
