Transcript: People who think that artificial intelligence is coming soon and it’s something to be concerned about generally think that we're going to build a general intelligence and it is going to be able to improve itself recursively at a speed that not only we won’t be able to control it, we won't even be able to understand it. The idea that artificial intelligence will advance its understanding and knowledge of the world, essentially, centuries-worth every hour isn’t just a trope of science fiction, but something that they believe could certainly happen. People who think that it's further out and that it isn't as much of a threat, generally speaking, don't think the model is necessarily going to be like that, that it will never improve itself at those kinds of speeds.
